Preference Index of the Acoustic Quality Assessment of Sacral Sound Field- Juniper Publishers

Image
Civil Engineering Research Journal- Juniper Publishers Review and Introduction Modern religions are practiced in places that focus on language, music, tales of affection, and worship. Music can convey the concepts and values of the religion and encompass the emotions of the followers. Therefore, the acoustics of the worship must also convey these functions. In this study, the theory of subjective preference for concert hall established by Ando [1] was used to investigate four physical factors in churches. Since church are always thought which is reverberant and a fitting space for music. The factors proposed by Ando [1] are a. The time gap between direct and initial sound (Δt1, ITDG, full band), b. Reverberation time (T30, 500Hz), c. Listening levels (LL, full band) and d. The magnitude of inter-aural cross correlation function (IACC, full band). The linear summation of equal weighting for subjective responses to these four factors is a gauge of planning sound field. The global i...

Rocks Fall in the Cape Aokas (Bsjaia): Geological Study Contribution and Reinforcement of the Rocky Slope- Juniper Publishers

Image
Civil Engineering Research Journals- Juniper Publishers Abstract The Cape Aokas situated in the oriental coastal region of Béjaïa city (Algeria). The cape takes its origin from the babor mountain chain to the Mediterranean Sea along the Aokas city. Its relief is characterized by abrupt slopes. On May 9th, 2005 rocks fall in large mass (20,000 to 30,000m3) from one of the walls constituting the cape, blocked traffic on a busy road (RN° 9) at the entrance of Aokas city. The excavation work of fallen rocks was quickly undertaken by the authorities: 23 days after the rock fall, the road was reopened to traffic. The topometric monitoring was be implemented between April and September 2014 during the summer. The reflection was started to find the best way to strength permanently the rocky slope. In this paper, we present a comparison between the stabilizing system applied to the rocky slope and an optimization proposal in both following cases: without earthquake and under reference eart...

Analysis and Prediction of Uneven Settlement due to a Curved Shield Metro Tunnel- Juniper Publishers

Image
Juniper Publishers-Civil Engineering Research Journal Abstract Surface settlement is a natural phenomenon of ground disturbance in subway tunnel construction. Dissymmetrical surface settlement profiles are observed when shielding in a curved tunnel, but these observations are quite different from the predictions of typical formulae which indicate a symmetrical surface settlement profile in straight tunnels. Based on the field measurements from shielding subway tunnels in soft ground located in Southeast Asia, the relation of the uneven distribution of jacking thrust and the mechanics of dissymmetrical settlement are discussed, and the method of calculating the dissymmetrical settlement profile is proposed in this study. The methods proposed in this article can be used to properly predict the surface settlement induced by a single curved tunnel in similar geological and construction conditions. The results also provide a reference set of shield construction parameter...
